We believe that our approach to environmental management, illustrated in the diagram below, is a highly effective amalgamation of global best practices, pragmatic legal prerogatives, and on-the-ground local knowledge.
This model illustrates how we approach environmental management and uses examples to illustrate the pillars of our approach.
Viewing the diagram from left to right we start with the fundamental meeting of legal statutory and jurisdictional requirements of a specific aspect.
Next we routinely undertake risk and environmental assessments, to use independent and scientifically valid information to guide our management, control, and response to it.
We ensure best practice engineering to control emissions and ensure operational consistency around environmental performance in the day to day operation of our sites, through an environmental management plan.
To the right of the green circle we show our response to a potential abnormal measure. There may or may not be a requirement for a primary response (e.g. an emergency response plan). There is then a quantification of any impacts that have occurred,
measures put in place to manage and mitigate, ongoing quantification and feedback ensure mitigation, and then
reporting to stakeholders, as appropriate and as guided by best practices.
