Iliya Garkov is a Professional Engineer and holds both a Master of Science and Phd in Mining Engineering from the University of Mining and Geology in Sofia. He also has a Certificate and Diploma in Management from the Open University in Bulgaria and a Master’s degree in Management and Business Excellence from the New Bulgarian University. Dr. Garkov has provided leadership to the company in a variety of capacities. He was promoted to Chelopech Mine Operations Manager in 2008 and to Vice President, Mining in 2011. Mr. Garkov was then appointed General Manager of Kapan and later assumed the role of Vice President and General Manager, Krumovgrad. In November 2014 he was appointed Vice President & General Manager, Bulgaria with accountability for both Chelopech and Krumovgrad.
Konstantina joined Chelopech Mining in March 2004 as an Environmental Engineer. From 2009, she leads the team to the Environmental Protection Department, and from September 2012 she heads the Health, Safety, Environment and Public Relations. Konstantina is a graduate of the St. Ivan Rilski Mining and Geology University in Sofia, and is a Master in Engineering Geoecology. She specialized in International Economic Relations at the same university, and Mining Public Administration at the Paris Mining Academy. Her professional development began at the Technical University of Sofia as an expert in the Environmental Technology and Management Research Laboratory, and later she worked for the Agriculture State Fund, and the Ministry of Economy.
Tsvetanka Karaivanova joined the company in May 1997 and has worked at various positions in the management of Finance and Accounting department. In February 2011 she headed the team of the Finance Department, and since February 2013 she has been the director of Commercial Division in the company. She is a graduate of the Sofia University "St. St. Kliment Ohridski", a Master in Economics. Tsetska holds a Diploma in Finance Management from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Business-focused and experienced professional in the field of HR, Gergana joined DPM in 2012. Her joining the team coincided with a period of significant business transformations and changes that directly impacted a number of people.
With a university background in business administration and organisational development, Gergana’s experience goes through training and consultancy for international human resources, organizing training schedules and managing certification programmes. Following an extensive and broad reaching training period, in 2007 she became the Managing Director at International Human Resources introducing new partnerships and expanding the company horizons. Since 2009 Gergana’s been the Executive Manager at BG Expat involved in the overall company management, recruitment and training. Working as Teambuilding Project Leader at ElephanTent further provided deeper insight into project management and execution to high-set goals. Having gained experience, Gergana tried the field of freelance consultancy projects for the telecommunication industry at Blizoo prior to joining DPM.
Irena obtained a Master Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1986 and another Master Degree in Environmental Monitoring, Control and Health in 1994. Prior to working in Chelopech, she worked in the Environment Department of Kremikovtsi, Iron & Steel Complex in Sofia District for 9 years. She then worked as Environmental Supervisor for Navan Chelopech EAD/BIMAK for 5 years until the Chelopech gold mine was acquired by DPM. In 2004 she became Environmental and Community Relations Manager at Chelopech. In this role, she developed and implemented environmental management systems certified to ISO 14001 and led the environmental projects of the mining operations; ensured proper environmental monitoring and reporting of the results; she developed closure and rehabilitation projects of past damaged areas like surface caves and old stockpiles; and prepared Stakeholder Engagement Plans, and all related disclosure and consultation activities. In 2013, Irena was promoted to Operations Director responsible for the planning and development of the Krumovgrad gold deposit. Mrs. Irena Tsakova, Director, Operations of Dundee Precious Metals Krumovgrad, was recognized as one of the 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining 2015 as part of the biggest international forum of investments in the mining industry, Mines and Money.
Tsvetormir manages the two major company activities - mining and processing. In 2001 he joined the company as Geotechnical Engineer after having been a trainee as a student at the Mining and Geology University.
In 2005 he was nominated and awarded Mining Journal Outstanding Achievement Awards - Young Achiever of the Year in Mining Industry at the ‘Mines and Money’ event in London. Ever since 2005 his career evolved including positions from Senior Geotechnical Engineer through Mine Superintendent and Manager Technical Services to Production Director in 2015. Tsvetomir is also the author of 6 geotechnical articles in mining magazines.
