Raising employees’ knowledge and professional experience

Dundee Precious Metals committed to increase employees’ knowledge and professional experience through training courses. We make significant investment in staff development to ensure that employees acquire the necessary skills to provide consistently high performance, while ensuring that everyone understands our goals and values.

Our training and development programs include, professional and practical courses, seminars, conferences and team building.

Employee Skills Development

Tsvetomir Velkov is Production Director and manages the two major company activities: mining and processing. In 2001 he joined the company as Engineer of Rock Mechanics after having been a trainee as a student at the Mining and Geology University.

In 2006 he was nominated and honored with a Young Progressing Engineer award at the ‘Mines and Money’ event in London. Since 2004 his career evolved including positions from Senior Engineer Geo-Mechanics to Manager Technical Services and recently to Production Director in 2015.

Graduate Development Programme

Dundee Precious Metals Tsumeb (DPMT) Undergraduate Bursary program was initiated in 2011. The objective of the program is to assist students who are academically talented but require financial support to continue their education. This assists young people, and also ensures local qualified graduates to enhance our employee planning as well as capacity building in Namibia. Our bursary program provides under graduate students the opportunity to study at accredited universities in Namibia as well as South Africa.

The bursary program focuses on disciplines such as engineering, pure science, humanities, and metallurgy.

To date Dundee Precious Metals Tsumeb has awarded 24 students with bursaries in Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Drafting, Environmental Health and Science, Mechatronics, Metallurgical Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting and Industrial Psychology.

We recognize the hard work and commitment made by the graduates and to date have offered permanent employment to 6 graduates in the fields of Metallurgical Engineering, Finance, Human Resources Management and Mechanical Engineering.

We are continuously looking-out for future talent to improve the way we work, and the value we deliver to the local community.
