Barcelona Tsauses assumed the role Director of Sustainability and Business Transformation effective May 2022. Prior to this, she held the role of Director Business Transformation and Director Operations since joining the team in 2016. Barcelona brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. She is an experienced and qualified metallurgist (production, technical, process design and projects). Ms. Tsauses has designed and commissioned various plant units across her career, including the state-of-the-art Sulphuric Acid Plant at the Tsumeb Operation. In 2009, she was awarded an outstanding achievement for the design and commissioning of a project at the JIMEC event that was held by Anglo American. Barcelona Tsauses is a Chemical Engineer and holds an Executive Management MBA from the University of Cape Town. She is a founding member of the Women in Mining Association of Namibia. She currently serves as the Chairperson of the Safety Committee of the Chamber of Mines of Namibia. She is also the Chairperson of the COVID-19 Task Team of the Chamber of Mines of Namibia, and further serves on the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) Advisory Committee of the Metallurgy Engineering degree programme.
