Investing in our people

Our people are at the core of all that we do. The modern mining equipment that we have commissioned requires relevant knowledge and skills. We invest in our employees through our in-house programs for training and development of leadership skills, as well as professional and technical skills.

While still in the period of construction in 2017 we launched a community training program in cooperation with the Vocational High School of Transport "Hristo Smirnenski". The program was fully developed to learning and refreshing skills in the field of mechanical maintenance. About 60 local residents passed the training, many of whom are now part of our team at the Ada Tepe mine.

Darina Mahmoud, Mechanical Fitter at Ada Tepe

The Basic Mechanical Maintenance Training Program was developed to provide knowledge and skills in mechanical maintenance. Although completing the course did not guarantee employment at DPM, the training was an opportunity for people to develop skills in operating modern equipment with a focus on safety, which is one of our core values.

Darina took the course, trying her hand at drilling, welding and other skills. She initially was hesitant because these are not typical roles for women in the region. She faced the challenges head on and is now part of our maintenance team at Ada Tepe. "If you are able to do the tasks, why not be a woman in maintenance? I hope other women will give it a try. They might be surprised how much they like it!"
